International Prof. Yalda Academic Foundation in Medical Sciences

PhD by research

We accept applications for self-funded PhDs on a rolling basis.

Introduction

A PhD is the basic entry point into academic research and teaching. Ph.D. by research is one of the most advanced degrees in graduate education. The purpose of this program is to obtain knowledge and skill using creativity and purposeful research on a specific subject matter. The Nursing and Midwifery Care Research Center (NMCRC) at the Tehran University of Medical Sciences offers a best academic environment for pursuing a higher degree by research. Postgraduate students undertake a research project in Nursing or Reproductive Health with one of our academic staff as supervisors.

Although the PhD degree is assessed mainly by research, progression also involves satisfactory completion of taught courses. As well as conducting world-class research, PhD students are encouraged to disseminate their finding in journal articles and conference presentations. In Tehran University of Medical Sciences this program includes master of philosophy (M.Phil.) and Ph.D. level research work that the former duration is one year and the latter lasts up to three years.

All applicants will be required to go through an interview process. Applicants are advised, that prior to the interview, they should make themselves familiar with the research undertaken by the prospective supervisor and should also understand the project that is on offer.
